Foster an Animal

Picture
Foster care is a unique and rewarding option. The HSofMC ensures the health and well-being of the animal is taken care of so that you can focus on providing a safe and nurturing environment. The animals’ vaccines and food are provided; and we are also there for you whenever you have questions or a concern.

Many of the public animal shelters don’t have the staff or the funding to provide the kind of care for their animals. This is definitely a special kind program, and it is another way to be an advocate for animal welfare in Morrow County. For more information, read about volunteering as a foster home.

Volunteer

We are all some kind of social animal – whether we are covered in fur or in denim, we rely on each other for support, comfort and protection. The relationships that develop between people and animals can soothe and heal. And the time spent with other volunteers unites us. At the core, there is no better way to contribute to the well-being of an animal than by just showing up. Your time spent, even if it is just an hour a week, can change you as well as the lives of the animals your service supports. The need for good people to help the animals in Morrow County never lets up – the HSofMC relies on the skills, talents and compassion of all of our volunteers; it’s what makes possible all that we do. Review our Volunteer Opportunities and together we can find a way to make animal welfare better in Morrow County.

Donate Funds/Supplies

Time and compassion are essential, but the kind of care and welfare we provide animals also comes from financial support and the material items. Animal care can be costly; everything from basic food and shelter to quality veterinarian care. The most basic food costs for a dog can be a couple hundred dollars a year; and heartworm prevention, flea and tick control and basic vaccinations can top over a thousand dollars. Likewise, the HSofMC incurs expenses caring for cats and horses. And some animals require special care or corrective surgeries.

It’s the small things, too, that make a HUGE difference. Donated blankets, pet food and toys help us sustain support of the animals in foster care. It’s the simple things on our wish list, like extra collars or leashes that may seem inconsequential to one pet owner but so very valuable to the abandoned dog or cat that finds its way to the HSofMC. Your contributions, like the pets we care for, are precious.

All donations are placed in the general fund and distributed where they are most needed. Humane Society of Morrow County is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Ohio Pet License Plate

Picture
The Ohio Pet License Plate is a specialty plate that will help raise funds to be used for spaying and neutering to prevent pet overpopulation. It is also used for education that supports the benefits of sterilization.

Over 5 million homeless animals in shelters this year will be put to death simply because they do not have a home. Adoption and spaying/neutering programs will help to reduce this number to zero. You can help the prevent the needless death of homeless animals by using the Ohio Pet License.

Be a responsible pet owner – spay/neuter your pet!
