Animals love to explore. And sometimes, no matter the love or the high level of care they receive, they wander a little too far from home. If you’ve lost an animal, don’t panic. Here are some steps you should take to help reunite your family with your lost loved one:

If you’ve lost a pet

Notify the Humane Society of Morrow County.
Contact us with the name and description of your pet, the location where they were last seen and any other information that may be helpful in trying to locate your animal.

Notify the Morrow County Dog Shelter.
Call the Morrow Country Dog Shelter at 418-946-1747 with the name and description of your pet, along with the location where they were last seen. You can also visit the shelter at 195 S. Main Street in Mt. Gilead OH 43338.

Alert Your Neighbors Right Away.
Ask your neighbors to keep an eye out for your pet. We quite often find lost animals in the same neighborhood they live in.

Post a Picture and Description of Your Pet on Twitter and/or Facebook.
Social media can help the word spread quickly.

Make Posters.
Include a clear picture of your pet along with their name, a brief description and your phone number.

Place a Lost Ad In Your Local Newspaper.
These ads are usually free or very inexpensive. Include a description of your pet, their name, a clear picture and a phone number that someone can call with any information about their whereabouts.

Pets often wear identification tags on their collar that include a phone number you can call to locate their owner. It’s always a good idea to check for this.
